Sterling Power International Staff have gained experience of a wide range projects:
Operational Consultancy and Rehabilitation of the Burri Power Station at Kartoum, Sudan.
Reviewed the rehabilitation requirements and provided operational consultancy and supervision for Burri Power station which included eight diesel generating sets varying from 2 MW to 10 MW in size, two 30MW steam turbines and a 10MW package gas turbine.
The work included project management, assessment of the refurbishment requirements for the plant and advising on operational improvements. A team of specialists provided operational supervision, advise and training. A planned preventative maintenance scheme for the entire plant was also developed and implemented. Under the guidance of the Midlands Electricity team, the plant availability was improved twofold at minimum financial costs, thereby deferring some of the rehabilitation requirements.
Distribution Company Assistance, Sri Lanka. Overseas Development Administration, UK for Ceylon Electricity Board
Provided engineering and craftsman support for the distribution system in Sri Lanka. This included the provision of operational staff and skill training of local personnel.
Long-term system planning and development studies for the Island of Crete.
Carried out an initial assessment of the long-term development requirements and associated cost profiles for the expansion of the electrical system on the island of Crete to meet future load growth. This included inspection and assessment of existing generation and transmission assets and an estimation of future requirements.
Review Electrical Transmission and Distribution Systems, Saudi Consolidated Electric Company (SCECO) – Central Region
Undertook a review of the entire electrical distribution and transmission system in the central region and prepared a ten year development plan. Provided technical and management services to assist with the implementation of the proposals including network planning, operations, maintenance & control, new connections, manpower utilisation, etc. Management and training was provided at all levels to develop the SCECO staff.
Development of the 450 MW Marmara Eriglisi CCGT plant in Turkey.
This project was the first IPP plant to be developed and constructed in Turkey. The work included the project management of a multinational group of consultants, production of the functional specifications and the evaluation of all bid submissions for the project. The work also involved the preparation, negotiation and agreement of contract terms for the Turnkey Contract, Operations & Maintenance contract and Power Purchase Agreements.
